    John R. Curran was appointed vice president, Mergers & Acquisitions, Taxes and General Tax Counsel for Textron Inc. in September 2009. In this position, he is responsible for overseeing and managing Textron's business development activities, including mergers, acquisitions and strategic partnerships, as well as Textron's worldwide tax function. In addition, he serves on Textron's enterprise-wide Finance Council.

    Previously, Curran was vice president, Mergers and Acquisitions, a position he had held since October 2000. Curran joined Textron in 1983 as a tax analyst. In the tax department, he held several positions including group tax director, director of tax planning and senior tax counsel. In 1994, he was named director of business planning, and in October 1995, Curran joined Industrial Products as director of business development. He was appointed vice president business development for Textron's Industrial Products segment in October 1998. Prior to joining Textron, Curran was with the auditing firm of Touche Ross & Co.

    Curran received his B.A. in economics and government from Cornell University. He earned his J.D. from Boston College, and his L.L.M. in taxation from Boston University. Curran completed the Leadership at the Peak program at the Center for Creative Leadership and is a past participant in the Textron Executive Development and the Advanced Management programs.
