E-Z-GO supplies the golf cars and vehicles for all the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail courses, like Ross Bridge.
|
When the management of the prestigious Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail was deciding on the company to supply its fleet golf cars and grounds maintenance vehicles, they toured E-Z-GO’s manufacturing facility in Augusta, Georgia and test drove the E-Z-GO RXV golf car.
They were sold on E-Z-GO – again.
The six-year agreement between the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, known as “the Trail,”and E-Z-GO continues the relationship that began when the series of courses – 468 holes of championship golf spread over 11 sites throughout Alabama, first opened in 1992.
“Our partnership with E-Z-GO has been crucial to the success of Alabama’s Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail since our inception 17 years ago, and we couldn’t be more pleased to extend this relationship for at least six more years,” says John Cannon, the president of SunBelt Golf Corporation, which is the company responsible for managing the Trail on behalf of the Retirement Systems of Alabama, which owns the Trail.
Under the terms of the agreement, E-Z-GO will provide a total of 1,584 RXV golf cars and 300 grounds-maintenance vehicles to the Trail’s golf courses. The RXV golf car had been used extensively at the Trail’s flagship resort, Ross Bridge, in 2008. The RXV, introduced in November 2007, is considered a “game changer,” with advanced technology, unprecedented energy efficiency and user-friendly features.
While E-Z-GO has enjoyed a strong relationship with the Trail, Mike Sanford, a fleet sales representative in E-Z-GO’s Alabama branch, says the Trail’s management wanted to look at all their options.
The visit to E-Z-GO only reinforced that the business is, far and away, the leader in golf car technology. “They were impressed by the technology and how modern our facility is,” Sanford says. “It’s obvious when you visit E-Z-GO that the people there enjoy their work and they know what they’re doing.”
“They saw what went into the development and testing of the RXV,” adds Mike Nelms, E-Z-GO’s sales manager in Augusta. “That had an impact on them.”
The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is no ordinary collection of public golf courses. Designed by the legendary golf course architect Robert Trent Jones himself, The New York Times has described The Trail as “some of the best public golf on Earth.” Its facilities host numerous professional golf tournaments, including a PGA Champions Tour event and two LPGA tournaments.
It is a destination for golfers from around the world. Each year, they flock to Alabama to play Trail courses, making the Trail the number one tourist attraction in the state. The readers of Golf World have ranked two of the Trail golf courses as the top two public golf courses in the U.S.
The golfers who play at any of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail courses expect a lot out of their golfing experience. The Trail’s management and the golf course superintendents at each course know that E-Z-GO helps to make that experience a memorable one.
