Griswold Professor of Geophysics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she has been a member of the faculty in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences since 1995. In her role as Presidential Advisor for Science and Technology Policy, to which she was appointed in 2024, she tracks and advises on current trends and future opportunities to inform and advance state and federal policy. She provides strategic direction to campus laboratories, centers, and initiatives related to defense or national security and represents MIT with external stakeholders. From 2013 to 2024, she served as Vice President for Research at MIT, a role in which she had overall responsibility for research administration and policy at MIT, overseeing MIT Lincoln Laboratory and more than a dozen interdisciplinary research laboratories and centers, playing a central role in research relationships with the federal government. In addition, in her previous role she led the team that developed and provided oversight for MIT’s Climate Action Plan. Since 1990, she has held leadership roles associated with scientific experiments or instrumentation on ten NASA missions. Ms. Zuber served on the National Science Board from 2013 to 2021, including as Board Chair from 2016-2018. She also served as co-chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology from 2021 through 2024. Ms. Zuber has served as a director of Bank of America Corporation since 2017.
